Frequently asked questions about leadership coaching

  • Leadership coaching is a collaborative, solution focussed, results-oriented and systematic process in which the coach facilitates the enhancement of self-awareness (which in turn provides more options and choice), self-directed learning and personal and professional growth of the coachee.

Leadership coaching differs from business mentoring in that the coach and coachee come together as peers and the coach is not there to give advice. Instead, the coach’s role is to ask good questions and provide a supportive space for the coachee to do their best thinking, as one of the core tenets of leadership coaching is that we all have all the answers within us already - we sometimes just need help coaxing them out.

Coaching differs from psychotherapy in that the base assumption is that there is no underlying problem or mental health issue. Instead of looking back and focussing on the past, coaching focuses mainly on the desired future of the coachee and how to best get there.

  • If you want to fully take charge of your life and feel like you could use the time and space to take a step back and reflect - be it because you’re at an important crossroads in your life, because you’re trying to figure out how to live a more balanced and purpose-led life, or because you want to befriend your inner saboteurs and become the best version of yourself - then absolutely, coaching is a great fit for you.

  • A typical leadership coaching programme consists of 6 x 90 minute sessions over the duration of 6 months. Sometimes we might leave slightly less or slightly more time between sessions but the ideal spacing is every four weeks to allow you to consolidate your insights and learnings and turn them into action.

The programme will be structured by 3-6 concrete and measurable goals that you will set yourself at the outset and that we will keep checking in against to ensure you’re making progress towards them.

  • I am based in Berlin, Germany but do most of my coaching sessions remotely via Google Meets or Zoom, which both my coachees and I find to work very effectively.

  • I provide leadership coaching in English or German. We can discuss which language will suit you best during the Chemistry Call if you’re bi-lingual and/or use one language at work and another at home.

  • Absolutely. I work both with personal clients who engage with me directly and with businesses who are looking to offer leadership or business coaching to their employees. If you are a business and want to learn more, you can get in touch here.

  • We will always start our relationship with a 45 minute Chemistry Call where we learn more about one another, where you share what brings you to coaching and I tell you about my coaching style and approach and whether I think I could effectively help you. This session is a really important chemistry check for both of us and absolutely free of charge. If you are interested in having a chat, you can book your complimentary call here.
